From the beginning of his career, Felix has been independent and has never worked for a brand. After graduating from watchmaking school, he set up his own shop. Although Felix is a hard worker, he doesn’t like to conform to societal structures and never has. He told me a story of how as a young boy he constantly snuck out of school and ran away, much to the chagrin of his teacher, especially when he started getting his other little buddies to follow suit.
In addition to taking from the BR Heritage collection, these watches have a lot of influence from the pre-BR01 Bell & Ross collection of watches. Consider what you see here as a combo of Bell & Ross old and new (even the names are like mashups). Design and case styles came from the older Bell & Ross Vintage (123 and 126), as well as the Geneva (123 and 126 models). While not exactly like Rolex (and certainly not as well), Bell & Ross is adopting a design theory that encourages retaining a core brand look and making very minor design changes over time, as opposed to coming out with wild new mainstream models. Bell & Ross certainly has their avant grade innovative stuff, but they are keeping their main selling watches closely connected in demeanor.

While my ability to afford this or any other MB&F watch may never come to fruition, I'm totally sold on the concept. MB&F appreciation is turning into a lifestyle, along with a mere love of their products. There is already the concept of the "MB&F man" (being one who trusts his own tastes enough to not request approval from others), and most all other avant garde luxury watches are immediately compared to what MB&F has cooked. Does MB&F really care that they are set as some high-bar for weird mechanical watches? Not particularly - though they are flattered by the title and position. Max Busser (and friends) will continue to develop cool watches that they want to see being made. It just so happens their taste is a bit infectious. After seeing and wearing the Thunderbolt, I have an acute case of Horological Machinitis!

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Extreme Lab 2 Technical Specs from Jaeger-LeCoultre:
Recon 5 is the new product from Prometheus, a rather new boutique brand with plenty of determination. This is their take on popular aviator theme. At the first glance I knew that Prometheus were not doing an other aviator, they were doing their adaptation of it. Watch has definite military vibe to it which comes from clean minimalistic dial, very easy to read markings and hands. It's clear that Prometheus had a ambition when making design choices here. As they say them selves on their blog, this watch is a tribute to reconnaissance squadrons of the world and 5th squadron of US Airforce in special.

The watch has an adjustable rubber strap that has a titanium end piece on one side - which has a good style and makes the giant watch wearable. You can see the U-Boat name engraving on the butterfly style deployment also in titanium. Again you see the U 1001 logo on the deployment as well - indicating U-Boat's desire to show you how many custom parts went into this limited edition collection of watches.
